Just announced in the April issue of V-Jump magazine, Dragon Ball Kai will be returning on April 6.
This will most likely mean 4 chapters per episode until the end of the Cooking Festival arc.
There is no word on how long it will run for. But my best guess is around 50 episodes (based on the same chapter rate they used for the previous arcs).
They have not stated if or when Toriko will return, or if it has been moved to another timeslot, but my best guess is it's going on hiatus, and they have yet to decisions regarding the future of the Toriko anime.
All we can do now to support the anime is to keep watching Toriko via legal streaming websites, and buy the DVDs. And hopefully now that it's on hiatus FUNimation will finally license and dub more episodes.
@Gladiator: Jump Issues are counted a month or more ahead of us (Jump Year). In Jan, we read Feb issues and late Feb we read late march annd early april issues etc...
Now, To the topic. I REALLY hope, Shima gives the animating license to Madhouse! If they adapt Toriko, we will have the best anime possiable. I hope this haitus is for our good. Lets pray we get a good timeslot, no censorship and a good company like madhouse. Shimabukuro, start making your move and contact f***ing TOEI!!!!!
Hiatus? I highly doubt it considering that they basically screwed over the Cooking Fest Arc and the plot of the story. Toriko is ending. Period. Now its up to Shima to give the animation rights to someone competant like Madhouse or the beloved UFOtable.
no, it's not confirmed yet. they may do something to get the plot moving again. from how it happened (the toriko staff was happy in the last festa announcing voice actors and stuff, and they were still going slow, then suddenly they started speeding up), i have a feeling the higher-ups decided to air Kai on april, thus forced the toriko staff to wrap things up. they may still do something to cover the mess they did up like Magi did, and just say komatsu was kidnapped in some way. no idea. but ya, a big possibility is that they're ending it. we'll see with next episode probably. if komatsu gets kidnapped somehow, they may still continue. let's hope they don't do a toriko vs joa bull or original ending.
But Starjun getting stabbed and Toriko losing his limbs was a catalyst for their development, and without the brutality of the battle we will get no ratings! Only kids could find Toriko amusing at this point, and right now Toriko is still the laughing stock of the anime community with people only replying that "its sweet justice that its getting canned cuz now DBZKai can come back". Face it Zange, Toei screwed Toriko over because they're greedy f**ks who only care about money, and unless Toei drops it and Toriko gets picked by another better studio Toriko's reputation will be ruined more than it already has with its lackluster animation, vast differences from the manga, and cheap censorship. Toei boned us and the only way to remedy this is for Toei to drop it before it gets even worse...
