The Shokurin Temple (食林寺 Shokurin Tera, "Food Forest Temple" or "Chowlin Temple" in the FUNimation dub) is a temple located in the Lost Forest. Its precise location is unknown even to big-name bishokuya, hence it's nickname of the Disappearing Temple. The master of the temple is Chin Chinchin, one of the Gourmet National Treasures. The assistant masters are Shuu, KoppowoWagon, and other unnamed ones.

Like the Disappearing Cuisine the temple is made by materials that disappear if the visitors don't pay respect at the building, but unlike the Disappearing Cuisine the materials attack the people without enough respect.

The temple is also a prison where the gourmet criminals are sent to learn respect for food. If the criminals try to escape they become lost in the forest. Unlike Honey Prison, where the criminals remain for the rest of their lives, if a criminal completes the training he becomes free again.[1]

Ichiryu included a particular ingredient on the list he gave Toriko as training.

TeachingsEdit

The fundamental teachings of the temple is to always respect all the ingredients and places of the world sincerely and seriously.

Food Honor training in the temple is a three level system: Basic, Mid-Class, and Top-Class.[2]

Food Honor is as much a physical exercise as it is a mental one. Those who have Food Honor are able to maximize their movements and minimize their caloric output for techniques, reducing wasted movements and conserving energy.

Food Immersion is also taught in this temple.
