Seven-Taste Wine (七味酒 Shichimi-shu) or Seven-Flavor Sake is a rice-malt sake which has a very rich flavor that makes it popular both as a seasoning and a beverage. Apparently, plenty of chefs are known to slip away to the corner of the kitchen and take nips from their Seven-Taste Wine.
It was one of the many ingredients used by Komatsu when he was recreating the Century Soup, although it is not known if this ingredient made it into the final version of the soup.
