The Magma Tortoise is a gigantic turtle beast that resides in “Death Season Forest” and awakens once a year during the forest's “Monster Season” which takes place during the months of March to May.

Anatomy

MagmaTortoiseSize

A Magma Tortoise's size compared to a human.

The Magma Tortoise is a gigantic turtle beast whose size even dwarfs the massive Honey Prison and many of the giant creatures of the forest, having a length of over 1700 meters (even longer in length than the Regal Mammoth) and it has a titanic weight of 65,000,000 tons, this makes it not only one of the largest creatures but also the heaviest creature in the Human World. It has a fearsome and demonic appearance, with pale red eyes and a large fanged maw filled with rows of sharp teeth. It has two giant orange horns coming out if its head and it has many volcano-like formations on its shell.

Behavior

The Magma Tortoise is a ruthless and destructive beast that destroys anything in its path, spewing magma everywhere and destroying and killing anything around it whether it is a foe or not. When it sets its eyes on its opponent it will rush at it without a second thought in a mindless rampage.

Powers and Abilities

Magma1

The Magma Tortoise is a creature of great endurance, being capable of surviving through all of the harsh seasons of Death Season Forest in its sleep and safely walking through the needle-like grass of the forest with ease. It is also capable of withstanding the full blast of Zebra’s Thunder Noise attack without any harm; however, it was completely powerless against his Voice Missile. It constantly drools an intensely hot magma-like substance from its mouth, showing just how durable even its insides are, but its most notable power is its ability to erupt this magma-like fluid from the volcano-like formations on its back in great and deadly quantities. Its title of “Boss of the Forest” is well deserved as none of the beasts in the forest dare to get close to it, showing a sign of clear superiority.

As Food

The magma-like fluid of the Magma Tortoise is actually a delicious and unrivaled restorative ingredient (at least when prepared correctly) and is the most valuable part of the Magma Tortoise as just 1 liter of its magma can fetch a price of 150,000 yen. Gourmet Hunters come to Death Season Forest every year during Monster Season in hopes of acquiring its restorative "magma", however acquiring this ingredient is no easy task and many of the hunters who attempt it are never heard from again. The meat of the Magma Tortoise also appears to be edible but does not appear to be as valuable as its magma. 100 grams of its meat can fetch a price of 30,000 yen.

History

Mellow Cola Arc

After Zebra’s release from Honey Prison, a Magma Tortoise had awoken, rendering leaving the prison a difficult task. Zebra, however, interpreted this as the Magma Tortoise being “cocky” and decided to teach it a lesson for that. Zebra used his Thunder Noise and Voice Missile attacks to finish it off instantly and then went on to eat it with all the vicious creatures he had killed alongside it. It's unknown if there are other individuals of this species.
