It has the appearance of a gigantic winged unicorn with a lustrous white mane and coat, giant feathery wings, and a purple horn. It also possesses the mane and tail of a lion. While most members of the species have four legs, Pochi appears to have six legs.

BehaviorEdit

Not much is known about the behavioral traits of this beast. However Pochi is a gentle creature who only becomes hostile at the behest of its master.

Powers and AbilitiesEdit

Obviously, it must be of considerable strength for one to be kept by Ichiryu and for the species to be able to coexist alongside the mighty presence of the "Nightmare" Heracles.

HistoryEdit

Meteor Garlic ArcEdit

A Janus Unicorn first appeared as Ichiryu's steed Pochi when he was approaching the headquarters of the Gourmet Corp.. Pochi later escorted its master out of the Gourmet Corp. HQ after he failed to reason with Midora.

AIR ArcEdit

A different Janus Unicorn appears on Nightmare Hill, co-existing alongside one of the Eight Kings, "Nightmare" Heracles. A baby Janus Unicorn is also shown residing in the Atmosphere Garden with other infant phantom horses.

Anime and Manga DifferencesEdit

  • In the anime, Ichiryu's Janus Unicorn had four legs rather than six.
  • Its name and type were originally not mentioned in either the anime or manga and were first given in the game Toriko: Gourmet Monsters. However the name given in the game would later be used in the manga, indicating that the name was either adapted into the manga or that the name was given to the game's staff by Shimabukuro himself. However the type given in the game was mammal while the one given in the manga is phantom.

Appearances in Other MediaEdit

Toriko: Gourmet MonstersEdit

In the 3DS game Toriko: Gourmet Monsters, the Janus Unicorn species is represented by Pochi, who appears as a powerful obtainable beast from Ichiryu that can be used in Gourmet Royale battles.

Toriko: Ultimate SurvivalEdit

In Toriko: Ultimate Survival for the PSP, Pochi appears once again as the only Janus Unicorn in the game, where it can be fought on Four Seasons Island.

TriviaEdit

  • When Ichiryu's Janus Unicorn first appeared in the manga it had six legs, but when more members of its species were introduced in the manga they only had four, indicating that the author either retconned them to only having four legs to match the anime's design or Ichiryu's Janus Unicorn has some sort of unique mutation.
