The Capture Ability Data (shortened as CAD) is a series of spider charts released by the author, which are used on some manga volumes to represent the levels of a character's skills to capture an ingredient or a beast.
Each chart has five variables measured on a progressive scale of 1 to 10:
A character's Power measurement is based on their physical abilities, work, impact or energy that is produced from their own bodies which can be improved through various physical training. The Power of an individual can also be improved through eating different ingredients, especially those who possess Gourmet Cells. Muscle growth and endurance contribute to ones Power as it shows how strong their individual bodies can perform. It is also used as reference of overall abilities.
Measurement of Speed relates to swift movements of a particular person. Higher speed measurements mean faster movement, meaning that the individual is capable of moving at a much faster pace than those of lower Speed measurements. Speed can affect how fast a person attacks, evade or block incoming attacks, as well as navigate through areas. Overall, Speed measurements will measure how fast any movement a person makes when they are performing during combat.
Also named as Brains, the intelligence is a term that describes one or more capacities of the mind of a character. It is defined as general cognitive problem-solving skills, a mental ability involved in reasoning, perceiving relationships and analogies, calculating, learning quickly and more. Higher intelligence show higher understanding of different aspects in the world and when used in combination with other variables, it can be used for different advantages, whether during combat, preparing ingredients or going through dangerous areas.
Appetite is the desire to eat food, felt as hunger. Appetite exists in all higher life-forms, and serves to regulate adequate energy intake to maintain metabolic needs. It is regulated by a close interplay between the digestive tract, adipose tissue and the brain. Appetite has a relationship with every individual's behavior. Appetitive and consummatory behaviors are the only processes that involve energy intake, whereas all other behaviours affect the release of energy. When stressed, appetite levels may increase and result in an increase of food intake.
These can be unique skills that a character has, regardless of having Gourmet Cells or not. Special Abilities can differ with each character as well as their profession as different professions require different skillsets, an example would be a chef would possess skills unique to their profession in comparison to a Gourmet Hunter. They prove to be very useful with determined situations, beasts and ingredients.
These variables appear to be relative to each other however. In other words, a fighter's all around CAD means more about his battle capabilities than their Power or Special Abilities scores. For some characters, their CAD are shown to be unknown and whether this means they are too powerful to be measured on this scale or that they keep getting stronger so their Capture Ability Data would be inaccurate is not known.
