He is a tall, pale-skinned young man who is around the same height as Toriko and usually wears bandages around his head. Prior to taking Takimaru's medicine, most of his upper body was covered in bandages and he wore two red arm coverings that even covered up his hands. He also wore short red pants with brown sandals and a yellow kilt. The bandages on his head also had an single, oddly placed purple spot painted on them.
After his recovery, he is seen wearing a darker-colored jump suit with a white cape and bandages around his chest and head, but these appear to be decorative unlike before. Also after his recovery, Aimaru's eyes appear to change and seem darkened.
In his youth, he wore a yellow and red jumpsuit with a red cape. He also had two stripes down each eye instead of three, indicating that he was in a lower rank at the time.
He normally has a very calm and humble personality (as reflected in his full course). This is most likely due to his Food Honor training and the training methods he endured as a Gourmet Knight. This persona seems to fade fairly quickly Whenever Toriko is around. The two quickly insult each other due to their conflicting viewpoints on food. Aimaru being one to follow Food Honor and the Gourmet Doctrine (which includes fasting periods). and Toriko's gluttonous, overindulgent ways. Toriko often calls Aimaru and the Gourmet Knights "bean stalks" due to their thinner bodies, while Aimaru calls Toriko "fatty" due to his large muscular body and insists that Toriko try to follow the Food Doctrine to no avail. Despite this, he and Toriko remain good friends.
Powers and AbilitiesEdit
Being the leader of the Gourmet Knights, Aimaru has authority over his underlings. Due to the beliefs of the group, he has highly developed survivalist skills that allow him to live perfectly in tune with nature and he is also accustomed to fasting. He has enough confidence in his abilities to lead the Gourmet Knights in battle against the Gourmet Corp. at the Cooking Fest. Since Toriko commented about some rivalry of sort between them, he is likely to be a decent fighter at the very least. When training Toriko, he could have unleashed an attack that would have killed the gourmet hunter if he had not run away. Aimaru is a horseman, though his skills in riding are unknown.
Aimaru is a fairly capable archer and highly proficient in Yabusame, having heavily injured Jerry Boy with a volley of arrows shot at the same time, showing great accuracy, balance, manual dexterity and speed of movement. As a master of Routines, he must have a very high level of focus and control over his emotions. However, the full extent of his mental capacity is demonstrated by his mastery over the Ultimate Routine, which in fact allows him to fully control his body, to the point he can damage or heal himself through mental images alone.
Because of his philosophy, Aimaru eats very little. This results in him being low on stamina, as he himself admitted to Toriko after demonstrating his Ultimate Routine. However, he has raised his physical and mental stamina to incredible levels, being able to last ten years of constant isolation, fasting, and physical exertion.
Aimaru has the unique ability to "eat" diseases, namely viruses and bacteria, and then produce a cure for them. He can even consume the deadly "curses" of Gourmet World and make them sterile. However, this ability has a severe drawback, as overtime the diseases can take a toll on his body and even kill him, but after taking a special medicine from the country of Life he is now cured of his ailment. He currently has one hundred trillion bacteria inside of his body, which he can transform into lethal viruses through the usage of the Ultimate Routine. The ensuing technique is invisible and very swift and covers a wide range, thus being extremely dangerous.
There are many types of one-celled organisms that Aimaru can control: some serve a search function and others are very useful in preserving ingredients. He also has knowledge regarding a certain Dark Technique that involves the usage of a fungus capable of affecting and controlling an ant's brain, and can counter it with his own bacteria.
Gourmet Slime Mold (グルメ粘菌 Gurume Nenkin): These amoeba-like protozoa only react to delicious ingredients, and are able to find the optimal path to reach a food source. By placing a drop of PAIR on the Real Globe and releasing them, Aimaru can create relatively safe routes that have a high compatibility with the ones in the real world; however, it is necessary to know the general area of the desired ingredient. It is considered an extremely useful searching ability.
Aimaru is the one who taught Takimaru about Routines, and his disciple made them a pillar of his fighting style, henceforth highlighting Aimaru's own abilities in the field. Toriko also mentioned having been coached in the art by the leader of Gourmet Knights as well. Aimaru was the one who taught Toriko the Ultimate Routine after he had acquired Food Immersion from his training in the Shokurin Temple. His Routines require a variable amount of concentration, but in return they give remarkable benefits.
Preshot Routine (プリショットルーティーン Purishotto Rūtīn): A technique normally used in golf where one creates a mental image of success to increase concentration and accuracy. Aimaru taught it to Takimaru. Like his disciple, he can increase his own concentration to the point that he does not even flinch when stabbed in a vital organ. The drawback is that it contains several movements which take time to perform, leaving him vulnerable.
Ultimate Routine (アルティメットルーティーン Arutimetto Rūtīn): The "supreme" routine taught to Toriko by Aimaru, it is also referred to as the "Conduct of the King". By imagining a scenario or event strongly enough, a person is able to cause an impression of that scenario or event strong enough that it actually occurs, whether that be imagining stress and forming an ulcer or imagining an attack succeeding and having it actually succeed (in a way similar to that of the placebo effect). Furthermore, it can accelerate the healing rate of a person or weaken their immune system to the point they can cause themselves to develop a flu. The impression that this routine can cause is so strong that it effects not only the user but those around the user as well. Offensive techniques gain even more power through this routine. With it, Aimaru can turn the bacteria inside his body into deadly viruses that are capable of killing an opponent, even as strong as Toriko, in an instant by causing their body to rot at an astounding speed. Aimaru mentioned the concept of Kotodama being akin to the Ultimate Routine, as they both make something thought in the mind happen. Due to his eating very little, Aimaru can perform this attack only once every 2-3 months, since it consumes a lot of energy and leaves him extremely exhausted.
Food Immersion (食没 Shokubotsu): After eating the Bubble Fruit, Aimaru gained the ability to store more nutrients into his body.
As he has progressed through the Gourmet World, Aimaru has eaten the dishes of Acacia's Full Course:
- AIR: Aimaru's Gourmet Cells awaken in his left arm, allowing him to morph his left arm into that of his Appetite Demon.
- PAIR: Aimaru's Gourmet Cells awaken in his right arm, allowing him to morph his right arm into that of his Appetite Demon.
- ANOTHER: Aimaru's Gourmet Cells awaken in his tongue, allowing him to morph his tongue into that of his Appetite Demon. It also gives him the ability to comprehend tastes of things that were previously inedible, like rocks, and reawakens tastes and memories that were forgotten.
- NEWS: Aimaru's Gourmet Cells awaken in his left leg, allowing him to morph his left leg into that of his Appetite Demon. It also gives him the ability to create and maintain Back Channels.
- EARTH: Aimaru's Gourmet Cells awaken in his right leg, allowing him to morph his right leg into that of his Appetite Demon.
- ATOM: Aimaru's Gourmet Cells awaken in his head and torso (except his brain and heart), allowing him to morph his head and torso into that of his Appetite Demon.
Doctrine of a Thousand Arrows (千矢の教え Senya no Oshie): Aimaru shoots a barrage of arrows to pierce the enemy. With it he presumably kills Jerry Boy, digging a large hole in his chest. The arrows look like enlarged toothpicks.
Warp Road (ワープロード Wāpurōdo): Aimaru creates a path through the Back Channel.
In his past, he was challenged by Toriko to see who would find GOD first, though Aimaru accepted for the thrill of finding GOD as opposed to actually wanting to eat it. He was also of a lesser rank at the time and was apparently not yet the leader of the Gourmet Knights.
Century Soup ArcEdit
Aimaru suffering from the severe side-effects of eating multiple diseases was the cause of Takimaru's involvement of the obtaining of Century Soup. After receiving the medicine in Life from Yosaku, Takimaru attempted to give it to Aimaru, who initially refused. However, after receiving the message from Toriko about GOD's appearance convinced him there was a point to live, and he proceeded in taking the medicine.
Bubble Fruit ArcEdit
In order to complete Monchy's Ehou Maki to show Toriko the path to Shokurin Temple where the Bubble Fruit is kept, Toriko travels to the Gourmet Knights' base in Simple Diet Hill. Nearby is the village of Eco Land, where the Eco Nori, a high-quality nori used in wrapping sushi rolls, is found. In Simple Diet Hill, Toriko meets with Aimaru and Takimaru, as well as other elite members of the Gourmet Knights. Aimaru and Toriko argue about each other's philosophies and dietary habits, but later Takimaru leads Toriko and Komatsu to Eco Land. When Toriko collects all the Eco Nori he needs, Aimaru encourages him to learn from his trip to Shokurin Temple and says that he and the Gourmet Knights are beginning preparation to go after GOD.
Cooking Festival ArcEdit
Before the Cooking Festival begins, Aimaru and Takimaru are sent to capture the Mon Planc on the Baron Archipelago and run into Toriko and Komatsu on the way. That night, after the Mon Planc has been defeated, Aimaru reveals to Toriko that his primary reason for going to the Baron Archipelago was actually to tell Toriko something for the upcoming events. When Toriko is fighting Starjun, it is revealed that Aimaru taught Toriko the Ultimate Routine.
When the delivery of Gourmet World ingredients finally comes into the Human World, Aimaru and Takimaru join up with many of the Human World's skilled personnel, who journey to Gourmet World in order to assist the Heavenly Kings. When everyone arrives in Area 8's Hex Food World, Daruma Hermit tells them that the Heavenly Kings have already departed from the Area 8 and headed to Area 7, much to their disappointment. However, the Daruma Hermit offers them his last remaining Safety Monster, the Crabbus, to help take the group to Area 7.
The Gourmet Knights go to retrieve pieces of the Seven Beasts for the creation of Golden Cookware. Aimaru heads to "Turtle King" Pandora to gather rocks for the pot. They return exhausted but successful after their six-day trip was stretched to a ten-year ordeal, due to the time dilation effect of the Seven Beasts' Back Channels.
When they reach Area 4, he suggests having his Gourmet Slime Mold map a route through the Cave of Old Age to limit their exposure to the cave's aging effects, but Sunny and Livebearer appear from the cave with EARTH. Later he accompanies the Four Heavenly Kings, Komatsu, and Jiji to Area 2 as a counter to Joie's own bacteria control.
When GOD tries to eat the group a second time, Aimaru is sent flying and Brunch chases after him. When Brunch catches him, Aimaru asks if they can, instead of returning to the others and GOD, follow his Gourmet Slime Mold to another destination. Brunch agrees, and combining Aimaru's Warp Road with Brunch's Stepped Leader, they speed off.
At his limit, Aimaru finally emerges into Area 0 and marvels at the vast field of food.
Full Course MenuEdit
As his personality and affiliation with the Gourmet Knights suggests, Aimaru's Full Course is composed entirely of simple ingredients with capture levels only between 1 and 2.

Anime and Manga DifferencesEdit
In the anime during Takimaru's flashback, Aimaru is seen with a black horse while in the manga he did not have a horse with him. Also Aimaru's riding partner in the manga is actually a deer/horse hybrid.
- Aimaru scored 5 in Power, 6 in Speed, 9 in Intelligence, 1 in Appetite, and 7 in Special Abilities on his Capture Ability Data of Volume 20, by the events of Bubble Fruit Arc.
- His name 愛丸 roughly translates to "love circle."
